My Story

My Journey to Vascular Medicine

Medicine has been my calling since childhood. Growing up as the son of a surgeon, I witnessed firsthand the profound impact a skilled physician can have on patients' lives. Those early experiences watching my father's dedication to his patients planted the seeds of my own medical journey.

After completing my medical education in Peru and pursuing advanced training in the United States, I found my true passion in venous and lymphatic medicine. This specialized field allows me to combine technical precision with meaningful patient relationships—treating conditions that, while often overlooked, significantly impact quality of life.

My fellowship at Harvard/Massachusetts General Hospital under renowned experts solidified my commitment to this specialty. There, I learned that the best patient outcomes come from combining cutting-edge techniques with genuine compassion and clear communication.

Today, I bring that Harvard-level training to Arizona, where I'm dedicated to providing every patient with the same expert care they would receive at a major academic medical center—right here in their community.

“Ethical. Caring. Dedicated.”

My Approach

Philosophy of Care

In an era of corporate medicine and rushed appointments, I've chosen a different path. My practice is built on the belief that exceptional vascular care requires more than technical skill—it requires genuine connection with each patient.

When you come to see me, you're not just another appointment slot. You're a person with unique concerns, questions, and goals. My job is to listen, educate, and partner with you to find the best path forward—even if that means recommending no treatment at all.

Transparency in pricing and treatment recommendations
Respect for your time—minimal wait times
Follow-up care that doesn't disappear after your procedure
Second opinions welcomed and encouraged
Communication in English and Spanish

Conservative First

I believe in starting with the least invasive options. Not every vein needs treatment, and when treatment is indicated, I choose approaches that minimize risk while maximizing results.

Patient Education

An informed patient is an empowered patient. I take time to explain your condition, treatment options, and what to expect—because you deserve to understand your own healthcare.

Personalized Care

You are not a number. Every treatment plan is customized to your specific anatomy, symptoms, lifestyle, and goals. Cookie-cutter medicine has no place in my practice.

Compassionate Excellence

Technical skill matters, but so does how you feel when you walk through our doors. We combine Harvard-level expertise with genuine warmth and respect.

Gratitude

Mentors & Influences

No physician succeeds alone. I'm grateful for the mentors who have shaped my career and continue to inspire my commitment to excellence.

Julianne Stoughton, MD

Director, Venous Disease Program

Massachusetts General Hospital / Harvard Medical School

Dr. Stoughton's dedication to advancing venous medicine through rigorous research and exceptional patient care has been instrumental in shaping my clinical approach.

Kristen Kelly, MD

Professor of Clinical Dermatology

University of California, Irvine

Dr. Kelly introduced me to the intersection of dermatology and vascular medicine, expanding my understanding of how vein disease affects patients holistically.

Outside the Office

A Personal Note

When I'm not seeing patients, you'll find me spending time with my family—they keep me grounded and remind me why work-life balance matters. Arizona has become our home, and we love exploring everything the state has to offer.

I'm passionate about medical innovation and enjoy keeping up with the latest advances in vascular technology. My certificate in Medical Device Development from Harvard Catalyst reflects this interest—I believe the future of medicine is incredibly exciting.

Born in Peru, I'm proud of my heritage and fluent in Spanish. This allows me to connect with our Spanish-speaking patients in their native language, ensuring nothing gets lost in translation when it comes to their health.
